Hunger – Mia Momchilova, Psychobaiko, Musical ambience: Ann Bo

Depoo / 16.02.20262.03.2026

On the eve of the exhibition, the material begins to disintegrate, and the space must be patched up. We sew a dark Darwinism — biological entity, disguised as human. Hunger, dressed in power, is uncontrollable. Inspired in part by the hungry spirit in Spirited Away by Hayao Miyazaki* — a formless insatiability that grows by devouring чужди лица и гласове — and by the torn surfaces of The Tears Dress by Elsa Schiaparelli, wounds upon the form itself, a struggle unfolds between shapeless hunger and the constraints of passing as a human being. A major source of inspiration is also state power and its garments — competitions for togas, public tenders, the long-standing presence of Zheni Zhivkova as a figure in whom aesthetics and corruption intertwine. In the end, the hungry spirit turns against that which protects it, tearing apart its camouflage wrap. Mia Momchilova is a visual artist based in Sofia.
